Addicere Devotion

for TC

Your demons have the voice of angels
which speak of melons and herb tea
as they move tablets of gleaned honey
and savor the morning light drifting
down into the folds of your hope

Your demons lift light into caverns
of open sky and draw down
the merest whisper of delicate dew
as they wash clear the crusts
settled round the flowered heart

Your demons take flight in healing sky
they move wings woven of welcome dreams
against an air so buoyant, so radiant
that there is no doubt about this spring
found flowing in this precinct of deceit

And yet
and yet there are so many edges
to the voices rising, so many motions
within the wings seen flying
that you are moved to cry in confused delight

And in that cry
resides the hope, the momentary sight
of resolution and recovery of all that's lost
within those angelic voices droning
the splendid paeans of the snare.
