Zen Seeds #22
The only thing we know about the future
is that it will be different.

Owl found Coyoté staring at a grasshopper.
He stopped and watched,
wondering about this fascination.
He knew Coyoté followed hopping grasshoppers
across the Sonoran desert in spring.
This grasshopper is early, too soon
for the spring fiesta.

Owl foresaw months of Coyoté wandering around.
Its just silly he thought.
Finally, hopping forward, he asked
"What are you doing?
You waste days! Weeks!
For what? These bugs come
then go. Quick lived!
Short season!"

Owl stopped, waited.
Nothing, Coyoté didn't even stop
or turn. Owl exclaimed, "They come and go!"
"Yes, they come and go."Coyoté whispered.

"So why?" Owl screeched. Looking back
Coyoté just said "Most of our assumptions
have outlived their uselessness. "¹
and then he turned back to the present.
