Tuco turned to Arlu

Tuco turned toward Arlu,
watched her glance at him
then stare into the mountains
across the valley.
She did that all the time.
Well, to him, it seemed so.

He turned toward the distant mountain view.
And he remembered the ebb and return
of their love. The seasons of it.
The changes caused by many things
often not really understood or seen.

It was not steady in its flame
but it was constant
in its reassurance.

Tuco turned toward Arlu,
watched her glance back at him
and hold his gaze with hers
as this autumn day gathered
the light for its finale.
Yet, also, constant in the reassurance
of another day to come
for them.
